Over the holiday season, we welcomed our Trademark family from all over the country to our headquarters here in San Francisco. Getting together as a company is a time to strengthen our ties to one another, and to plant seeds for the new year. Since sustainability is a major focus for us moving forward, this year we snapped on our gardening gloves, threw our shovels over our shoulders and set out to plant over 100 trees for our annual Give Back Day.
On a warm mid-December afternoon the Trademark team went to Buena Vista Park, a 36-acre landscape with sweeping views of the SF Bay. There we partnered with the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department to clean up the grounds and plant native trees.
Frankie Contreras – Park Area Supervisor, was our charismatic guide for the day. He took a moment to remind us of the impact that volunteer work has.
“We need positive energy to come into these parks,” he said. “They are public spaces – they belong to all of us.” He reminded us that what we put into them is what we get out of them.
While sustainability is a major challenge facing the whole globe, events like this remind us that we are able to make a difference right in our own neighborhoods. “A little bit of time makes a bigger difference than you realize,” reflected Tanner Rhoades (Production Coordinator) over drinks at Black Hammer Brewing at the end of the day. “It takes a whole community to build a good community.”
Trademark donated 90 labor hours and planted over 100 trees, while also cleaning, mulching and weeding – and contributing financially to ensure the future planting of native tree species.
